So my question is has anyone in the district done a clothing drive for our schools before using facebook, twitter, or other platform to get parents or others to donate clothing? Do we know of any complicating factors with this when we have done this in previous times?
There was one done at the DSC around the holidays, but I don’t believe there was any use of social media in the attempt.
Any time you put the word out broadly, you should to be ready to get things you might not want…
We have had some donated clothes collected through staff. The main hurdle I’ve found, and am finding again as I try to clear out the excess, is that you really have to be okay with donating the unwanted stuff elsewhere. Otherwise, you will end up with mountains of clothes that no one wants to look through for the few nice things they might actually want.
